A Canadian provincial Court has upheld government's decision for its law banning the polygamy. Chief Justice Robert Bauman issued his decision saying that plural marriage was harmful to society, especially women and children in polygamous communities. He said the law is valid as long as it's not used to prosecute children. The province's attorney general was non-committal but also suggested an appeal could complicate matters. During 42 days of hearings in the case, the court heard testimony from academic experts, former polygamist women and current plural wives.
