A Canadian provincial Court has upheld government's decision for its law banning the polygamy. Chief Justice Robert Bauman issued his decision saying that plural marriage was harmful to society, especially women and children in polygamous communities. He said the law is valid as long as it's not used to prosecute children. The attorney general of province was non-committal but also suggested an appeal could complicate matters. During 42 days of hearings in the case, the court heard testimony from former polygamist women  academic experts and current plural wives. The polygamy law was introduced by Parliament in 1890.
